Is snus legal in the UK?

It depends on which product you mean.

Tobacco snus: illegal to sell, legal to own. Selling oral tobacco such as Swedish snus has been banned across the UK since 1992. The rule came from EU law and was kept after Brexit under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016. Owning snus for your own use is not an offence, and travellers can bring it in for personal use, but it cannot be sold or resold here.

Nicotine pouches: legal. Nicotine pouches contain no tobacco leaf, so the snus ban does not apply to them. They are legal to buy, sell and use in the UK. Until now they have been covered only by general product safety rules, which is why the law is being tightened (see the age rules below).
