What Are VELO Nicotine Pouches?
VELO nicotine pouches are tobacco free pouches made by British American Tobacco (BAT). The brand was born in Sweden, took over from BAT's earlier LYFT pouches and is now produced in Europe. Each pouch contains nicotine, plant based fibres, water, flavourings and sweeteners, with no tobacco leaf.
On this page the range is split by VELO's own strength dots: 1 to 2 Dot, 3 to 4 Dot, 5 to 6 Dot and Bundles, so you can go straight to the strength you want and then pick a flavour.
How Strong Are VELO Nicotine Pouches?

What Does MG Per Pouch Mean?
MG per pouch is the amount of nicotine in one pouch, and it is the figure VELO puts on the can. Our titles also show mg/g where it is confirmed, which is nicotine per gram of pouch material. Two cans with the same mg per pouch can have different mg/g figures because their pouches weigh different amounts. Our nicotine pouch strength guide explains this in more detail.
VELO Slim, Mini and SHIFT Pouches
Slim
Slim is VELO's standard pouch and covers almost every strength from 6mg to 17mg. A UK Slim can holds 20 pouches.
Mini
VELO Mini pouches are about 20% smaller than Slim, so they sit more discreetly under the lip. In the UK they come in the two lightest strengths, 4mg and 6mg, with 15 pouches per UK can. Try Strawberry Ice Mini or Bright Spearmint Mini 4MG.
SHIFT
SHIFT launched in September 2025 with a rounded triangle shaped pouch in a hexagonal can. Every SHIFT can is 8mg with 20 pouches, and the Hot flavours, such as Hot Peach, add a warming, tingling feel to the fruit or mint.
Which VELO Strength Should I Choose?
- New to nicotine pouches: start with a 4mg or 6mg Mini, or a 6mg Slim such as Crispy Peppermint 6MG.
- Regular pouch users: the 8mg and 10mg cans in the 3 to 4 Dot section.

What Are VELO Flame and Spark Pouches?
Some VELO flavours add a sensation on top of the taste. VELO describes the Flame and Spark effect as a heat and tingle you feel on the gum. Mango Flame pairs it with ripe mango, Lime Flame with lime and a warm jalapeño note, and Orange Spark with zesty orange. The sensation is part of the flavour, not a sign of extra nicotine.
Old VELO Names: Ice Cool, Freeze and Polar Mint
VELO renamed most of its UK flavours in 2024. The pouches stayed the same, only the names and cans changed:

How Do You Use VELO Nicotine Pouches?
Take one pouch from the can and place it between your upper lip and gum. You will feel a tingle as the nicotine and flavour release. There is no need to chew or swallow it.
VELO says you can keep a pouch in for up to 30 minutes. Take it out sooner if the flavour fades or it feels uncomfortable, then put it in the compartment in the lid until you can throw it away. Never use more than one pouch at a time, and take extra care when moving up to a stronger can.
Is VELO Snus? Does It Contain Tobacco?
Lots of people search for "VELO snus", but VELO pouches are tobacco free nicotine pouches. Traditional snus contains tobacco leaf; VELO does not. The two are used the same way under the lip, which is why the names get mixed up.

Are There Side Effects?
VELO pouches contain nicotine, and unwanted effects can happen. ASH lists nausea, vomiting, headaches and dizziness among reported effects, particularly for people who are not used to nicotine. This is more likely with a stronger can than you are used to, so step up gradually, especially to 14mg and 17mg.
Some people notice irritation where the pouch rests against the gum. If a pouch makes you feel sick or dizzy, or irritates your mouth, take it out. Speak to a healthcare professional about any ongoing mouth or gum problems.

The dots are VELO's own strength scale, from one to six: 1 dot is 4mg, 2 dots 6mg, 3 dots 8mg or 10mg, 4 dots 10.9mg, 5 dots 14mg and 6 dots 17mg per pouch. Dots are only for comparing VELO cans, so use the mg per pouch figure when comparing with other brands.
What happened to VELO Ice Cool and Freeze?
They were renamed in 2024. Ice Cool is now Crispy Peppermint and Freeze is now Freezing Peppermint. Polar Mint became Bright Spearmint and Tropic Breeze became Tropical Mango. The pouches stayed the same; only the names and cans changed.
What are VELO Mellow, Original and Intense?
They are the groups VELO uses on its own website. Mellow is aimed at new users (4mg and 6mg), Original at regular users, and Intense at experienced users, with the 11mg, 14mg and 17mg cans. VELO's own pages don't always place 8mg and 10mg in the same group, so the mg per pouch on the can is the clearest guide.
Who owns VELO nicotine pouches?
