What Are KI Nicotine Pouches?
KI nicotine pouches are tobacco free slim pouches from Ki Bio Ltd, a UK company, with flavours inspired by Japan and developed by a Michelin trained chef. The pouches for the UK are made in Helsingborg, Sweden, and each can holds 18 pouches of about 0.53g.
On this page the range is split into 3MG and 9MG, so you can choose a strength first and then a flavour.
KI 3MG vs 9MG
- KI 3MG: 3mg of nicotine per pouch, in our Light category. A gentle pouch for newer users or anyone who prefers a low strength.
- KI 9MG: 9mg of nicotine per pouch, in our Strong category, for regular pouch users.
Every flavour comes in both strengths in the same pouch, so the taste stays the same and only the nicotine changes. KI gives its strength per pouch and does not publish an mg/g figure. Our nicotine pouch strength guide explains the difference.
What Flavours Do KI Pouches Come In?
- Hokkaido Mint: brisk herbal mint with high menthol cooling and a touch of monk fruit.
- Yuzu Mint: crisp cooling mint lifted by Japanese yuzu citrus, fresh rather than sweet.
- Satsuma Citrus: soft satsuma mandarin with honey and orange zest, and no cooling.
- Tokyo Cola: Japanese craft cola spices with bright yuzu and fresh ginger on the finish.
- Maple Coffee: roasted coffee and dark chocolate, then maple, hazelnut and a savoury tamari note.
What Is in a KI Pouch?
KI sweetens its pouches with monk fruit and says they contain no artificial sweeteners and no propylene glycol. The pouch itself is a plant based fleece. The nicotine comes from tobacco and is bound with beta cyclodextrin, a compound made from starch, with the pH set to keep the burn low. KI does not publish a full ingredient list, so check the can if you need one.
Is KI a Japanese Brand?
Not exactly. KI calls its approach Japanese inspired design, and most of its flavours draw on Japanese places and ingredients, but the company behind it is Ki Bio Ltd in the UK and the UK pouches are made in Sweden.
How Do You Use KI Nicotine Pouches?
Place one pouch between your upper lip and gum and leave it there; there is no need to chew or move it. KI suggests keeping it in for up to about 30 minutes and leaving an hour or two before the next one. The lid has a compartment for used pouches until you can bin them.
Is KI Snus?
Lots of people search for "KI snus", but KI makes tobacco free nicotine pouches. Traditional snus contains tobacco; KI does not. Both sit under the lip, which is why the names get mixed up. For the UK rules, read our guide to snus in the UK.
Are There Side Effects?
KI pouches contain nicotine, which is addictive, even at 3mg. ASH lists nausea, vomiting, headaches and dizziness among reported effects, especially for people who are not used to nicotine. If you are new to pouches, start with 3MG.
If a pouch makes you feel sick or dizzy, or irritates your mouth, take it out, and speak to a healthcare professional about any ongoing mouth or gum problems.
Why Buy KI from Pouchline?
Pouchline carries the full KI range, five flavours each in 3MG and 9MG, with the nicotine per pouch in every title. You can mix and match KI cans for our multibuy prices.
FAQs
Are KI nicotine pouches made in Japan?
No. KI's flavours and design are inspired by Japan, but the brand is run by Ki Bio Ltd in the UK and the pouches sold in the UK are made in Helsingborg, Sweden.
How can KI be tobacco free if the nicotine comes from tobacco?
KI's nicotine is taken from tobacco, but there is no tobacco leaf in the pouch. That is what makes it a tobacco free nicotine pouch rather than snus, which contains ground tobacco.
Tobacco free does not mean nicotine free: KI pouches contain nicotine, which is addictive, and are for adults 18+ only.
Do KI nicotine pouches contain artificial sweeteners?
No. KI says it uses monk fruit as its sweetener, with no artificial sweeteners, and that its pouches contain no propylene glycol.
KI does not publish a full ingredient list, so check the can if you have a sensitivity.
Does KI Maple Coffee contain caffeine?
No caffeine is listed. KI Maple Coffee is a coffee flavoured nicotine pouch, with roasted coffee, dark chocolate, maple and hazelnut notes.
If you want caffeine rather than nicotine, see our caffeine pouches.
How many pouches are in a KI can?
Each KI can holds 18 slim pouches of about 0.53g, slightly fewer than the 20 found in many other brands.
Which KI is best if you don't like mint?
Satsuma Citrus is the one to try: soft mandarin, honey and orange zest with no cooling, and KI itself suggests starting there if you don't like cooling pouches. Tokyo Cola and Maple Coffee are not mint flavours either.
Hokkaido Mint and Yuzu Mint are the two cooling mints.
How long should you keep a KI pouch in?
KI suggests up to about 30 minutes per pouch, then leaving an hour or two before the next one. Place it between your upper lip and gum and don't chew or move it about.
When you are done, put the used pouch in the compartment in the lid until you can bin it. Keep fresh and used pouches away from children and pets.
